The key responsibility of a Design Engineer is to work collaboratively with nearly all departments and teams to design, develop, and modify drawn and stamped metal components and their corresponding tooling, gauges and fixtures, and supporting parts for production machine maintenance and repair. Design Engineers report to the Engineering Manager.
Primary responsibilities

Design tooling with solid modeling SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD software

Understand and apply Cly-Del’s approach to product development and tooling design

Generate profile part drawings and tool and die design plans

Initiate design review stages starting with part drawing and ending at final review of tool design

Provide technical input on layout, development, and tool design

Contribute to new product development as designs evolve, and provide input in manufacturability, prototyping process, and tooling development process

Update existing designs and prints to support manufacturing and continuous improvement efforts

Generate and update BOMs for new and existing jobs

Generate part prints as necessary to support tool builds and modifications

Maintains record keeping of controlled documents and their changes while following current processes

Work with sales on quoting new projects
Experience and qualifications

B.S./B.A. degree in Engineering preferred or 3 to 5 years related experience required or relevant technical degree such as Toolmaking

AutoCad and SOLIDWORKS experience required, and willingness to further advance skill set

Knowledge of metalforming, drawing and stamping, tooling, and related manufacturing processes

Knowledge to operate die making equipment (EDM, milling machine, lathe, etc.) is desirable

Good communication skills both verbal and written

Proficient computer skills and discipline around engineering procedures and asset organization

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Ability to organize projects and create and meet timelines
